Colombo, Dec 21 (Daily Mirror) - Geethanath Cassilingam, Coordinating Secretary to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been appointed to the Executive Committee and the Political Bureau of the SLPP, in a recent party revamp of its members, party officials said.
Cassilingam is the Tamil representative appointed to the two SLPP committees and will look at strengthening the party's policies among the Tamil community especially in the North and East.
Cassilingam had earlier functioned as the Prime Minister's special representative for Rehabilitation Affairs in the North and East when Mahinda Rajapaksa was the Prime Minister.
He is one of the youngest members to be appointed to the Executive Committee and the Political Bureau of the SLPP.
