Election after election! The new president can play around thanks to somewhat heavy treasury that RW had made!

Election after Election! Of course Parliamentary elections is a requirement and must be held. Your comment on RW and the heavy treasury he left behind is hilarious to say the least.

Now it is once again for the people of this country to design the political map and trajectory of this nation. it has been the primary objective of NPP to clean this parliament from corruption and corrupted politicians. How could NPP do this? what about the democratic freedom of people to contest the general election. does our EC has any conditions, or prerequisites to all those contest? I do not think there is any. even a fishmen, or coconut pickers/ three wheelers or taxi driver can contest election it is a fundamental human rights and yet, what conditions NPP will have for its contesters.? who will SJB choose among its candidates for the general elections. Now, the quality of candidate is important to us here....SJB has a big vote bank and can NPP challenge the SJB in this general election. SJB will be smarter this time. It knows its fault now. I think it will only select the best among all candidates to challenges the NPP in this contest. wait and see . A testing time for AKD

Take my word and make a note of it. At least 100 current Members of Parliament will loose their seats on the coming general election on the 21 November 2024. Some of the prominent names will disappear for ever. Our country is in current situation due to corrupt Members of Parliament. We don't want to see those faces again.

The politicians were elected by dumb people. People supported racist slogans from 1956 with SWRD's Sinhala Only policy. Racist slogans continued and people voted. So dont blame the politicians. Unti the reasons for 1956, 1958, 1961, 1971, 1977, 1981 burninf of jaffna libray, 1983 black july, 2009 massacre are found and solutions provided, our country Sri Lanka will not prosper. We need a statesman to tell the majority of people that a solution needed to be found. People who may ask " what is the problem for Tamils?" , i would say learn the history. Mist young people do not know what happened in 1983. Wake up or return to 2022 sooner or later.

President Anurakumara acted decisively by dissolving the parliament and promptly setting the date for the general election on November 14. This astute decision reflects his intent to purge the nation of its deeply corrupt and abusive cabinet, as well as the SLPP parliamentarians. In stark contrast, President Ranil Wickremesinghe remained inert, taking no meaningful steps to hold the wrongdoers accountable. Even amid the ongoing economic crisis, these officials engaged in an unparalleled scale of misconduct, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the nation's plight. Astonishingly, none, including former Prime Minister Dinesh Goonewardene, exhibited the slightest inclination to forgo their exorbitant privileges, while the majority of citizens struggled to obtain even the most basic necessities.

See how keen NPP to relieve the downtrodden, starving people of about 7 M after making Sri Lanka possible, etc. They are keen to have more power to make sure that Sri Lanka is a Marxist country as it is their priority rather than disbanding executive presidency as per the NPP representative mentioned on the media. SL heading for disaster unlike the 100 day programme that he praised.

Two months wait is too long. People have been waiting for change and the sooner the government is sorted the better it is for the country to move on.

Dear fellow citizens, let us make sure the next parliament is made up of individuals with some credibility. This will allow us to speak of our parliament in conversations with foreigners - especially among ourselves - without being ashamed.

Everything is going well. People should cast their votes to eliminate all the robbers from the parliament this time. Hope that NPP will secure majority of the seats. All the best

It is time to send the corrupt politicians home and elect some young, educated, energetic and untainted individuals to the August Assembly! The majority and the general public should not fall prey to racism, deception, false propaganda and thieves who have held us to ransom. Enough is enough!

Timely decisions taken rightly so with good will. Victorious JVP leadership budded on time by late comrade Somawansha Amarasingha. This is the wisdom that any political party should have if they want to democratically secure power and serve the country where most people rely on horoscopical advises and the clues Somawansha obtained from Rajapakshas who knew from the word go how it worked for them. But future of the global rulership is above all and matters each and every person survive on the planet that will be determined by the new exodus.

Sri Lanka, let's be hopeful! Wednesday, 25 September 2024 01:32 PM
While I understand your concerns about the potential for a Marxist agenda, I believe it's important to recognize that the JVP has evolved, and the NPP is unlikely to allow any radical shifts towards a Marxist revolution. Instead of focusing on fears and assumptions, we should consider the practical implications of the current political structure. If we continue to maintain the Executive Presidency and the existing parliamentary powers divided between just two parties, we risk stagnation and inaction. To truly address the pressing issues facing our country, we need to empower the NPP to implement meaningful changes. It's crucial to give them the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to progress rather than letting fear dictate our perspective. Let's focus on the potential for positive change rather than dwelling on hypothetical scenarios.

The general election should be held. Any how it should be won by the NPP Whilst scrutinising the result of the recently concluded presidential election we are in dilemma whether the NPP can obtain the 2/3 majority in order to pass the bills what they require. As we assume before the election the president AKD should give some concessions like considerable decrease of electricity tariffs, decrease of fuel prices decrease of the prices of essential medicines increase of the wages of estate workers Further these decreases should be tangible to the general public. Unless the president concentrates on the above issues the winning of the election with a vast majority will be rather difficult

Last thing this country needs. 42 percent have their wish. More chaos more instability more uncertainty. Economy is main problem and people want to instead take out their vengeance. Blaming politicians but not taking any responsibility for not holding politicians accountable for 80 years. Politicians do what people want them to do. So this country is the way it is because this is what the people wanted.

People again must vote for NPP and form a one party Government, never allow SJB to win the General Election. No. I don't think SJB or any other mushroom parties will win again.

This is a very crucial election for the people who respect the rule of law. A new constitution needs to brought to amend some of the burning clauses such as maintaining ex presidents etc. A 2/3 majority is needed for this and that needs to be provided.
