How brainless and commission oriented out politicians are. Instead of purchasing from private companies why they not implement providing solar panels to residence in concession price who can install on their roof top. This will provide electricity in cheaper rate and create local jobs as well as some income to residence.

Panels cannot be produced locally. Sri Lanka does not have the technology. Panels are all made in China in high tech factory. Even red lental for parripu, cannot be grown locally, nor wheat, the wheat floor for our paan. Crazy local idiot dreams of being able to do everything locally, instead of doing what is worthwhile. Maybe some fool want to go back to teach Maths and Science in Sinhala or Tamil for Grade 7 onwards again to send the country back to the dark age.

Australia has laws that bribes and commissions cannot be paid by Australian company even for overseas projects. The company bosses will be put in jail if their company is found to pay bribes as commission. When I graduate from my law degree from Australian university, I will apply for PR here in Australia. The legal profession here, and the judges here can be criticised by the public, but at the same time there is far less corrupt conduct here.

I want reliable and constant electricity, while understand the so call breakdowns and lightning strikes are more often man made, or saboge to get the commissions. I would look the other way if only 1% commission that is 2 million USD to MPs and government officials to get the project happening. But any more than 2 million might mean higher electricity prices, so then project should be blocked by the public from happening.

No one will ever venture into manufacture of panels or inverter in Sri Lanka, no funds nor economies of scale. Don’t talk nonsense. Who is stopping you from installing panels in y home? You want that also free?
