Government to remove tri-forces security of former Presidents from next week

Colombo, December 17 (Daily Mirror)- The government has decided to remove the security provided by the tri-forces to former Presidents from next week, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said today.

He told Parliament that only police security will be provided to the former
Presidents.

The Minister said Rs. 1,448 million had been spent to maintain former Presidents for the last eleven months and fifteen days and that it is a waste of public money.

He said decisions on the security of former Presidents will be taken after a review of their security every six months.
