Government writes off crop loans taken by farmers
Colombo, Sep 3 (Daily Mirror) - The government has decided to write-off all crop loans taken by farmers to provide financial relief and support.
The President's Media Division said that the decision was made in response to requests from various farmer associations.

A completely wrong decision. Farmers who need loans, especially immediately after a harvest, cannot operate properly. Farmers should no longer be given any loans at all, except for innovative investments that increase harvests but not for day-to-day survival. It cannot be at the expense of taxpayers, who already have to pay horrendous costs for agricultural products. I can only advise everyone not to have their accounts in state banks. The government cannot force private banks to write off farmers' debts unless the government compensates the banks.

Dear People…. This could have been done before if Ranil had a heart to feel the struggling farmers. He does this as a bribe. No you people deserved this and it is not more than getting an outstanding amount. Please vote to someone else of your choice. Ranil is a vicious man. We don’t want him in Presidential seat any longer.

Just becoz you won 1 or 2 matches wont make you the best captain ? historic performance and their future plans (for an 80 year old?) matter! This decision, again, is a violation of election laws. Ranil should be investigated after the election, and his civic rights should be removed if he is found guilty. Ranilis is not above the law.

NPP has updated themselves to meet the challenges of the new era. If Japan and Germany can change from their past authoritarian rule, so can NPP. Majority of the candidates are professionals and were not around in 80s. Anyway, they are aware of the people power as seen in 2022 if they decide to make a U turn!

It should be corrected as "this decision was taken in view of the pending elections where the head-of -state is to record an unprecedented electoral debacle at the hands of the voters as this gimmick will definitely backfire as it smacks influencing the farmers who form a sizable block of voters".

Why are you all crying and complaining like widows? Take whatever you can from the Govt. or AKD or Sajit or Namal or any other candidate. This is the time you can get something from politicians. Learn from Marikkar of SJB. He wants car permits from Ranil, and if Sajith gives he will take another permit. It is simple as that.
