Govt. has no option but to resign: JO
Joint Opposition (JO) leader Dinesh Gunawardane said today the mandate given to the Government leaders at the previous election had expired with the results of the Local Government elections.
Addressing a news briefing held at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) office in Colombo to declare the election victory, MP Gunawardane said the Government had no option but to resign. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

Please get your thought process right. Governments dont resign mid term on outcome of local polls. If so why have parliamentary polls at all ? However the govt in this instance needs to introspect seriosly and review its policies

Local Government and Central Government should be in the hands of same party to develop the country - by not me but this is what UNP told tp people. Hence the best way is to dissolve the Parliament and go for fresh General Elections!!

We had a local government election, not a referendum, not a general election, not a presidential election. So people should not just jump into conclusion and a lot of people did not vote.
