Govt. open for suggestions on Mattala Airport: Eran

Days after signing the framework agreement for restructuring the Hambantota Port, the government remains open for suggestions for the development of the Mattala International Airport, State Enterprise Development Deputy Minister Eran Wickramaratne said yesterday.

He emphasised the fact that the airport was a white elephant but however the government hoped to consider business propositions rather than developing it as an international airport.

“We are still in the search mode. We have no concrete partners yet,” the deputy minister said. (Kelum Bandara)

Ah! I do not expect this from a respectable politician like you. You lame boss goes to China and make deals or agreements and now you want suggestions. My suggestion is if you can not mange this crisis just GO! and NOW!

If its not economical to be used as an international Airport, The Best Choice is making use of the airport Premises as a MRO ( Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) of Aircraft's. Most of the Major Airliners would be interested, Which in return would make more job opportunities available for lankans and give the Lankan Youths a better opportunity to grow in Aviation Field .
