Govt. to allocate foreign jobs to retired military, war hero families

Colombo, June 6 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment has expressed willingness to allocate a portion of the foreign job opportunities to retired military personnel and war hero families, the Ministry of Defence said.

This was revealed during a meeting held to educate tri forces personnel on the programme of providing foreign employment to retired tri forces personnel and members of war hero families under the patronage of State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon. Senior tri forces officers and representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment attended the discussion.

The decision was taken following discussions between the State Minister Tennakoon and Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara.

Initially, construction sector roles in Israel will be offered.

The Ministry said that loan facilities at concessional rates will be facilitated through state banks for expatriates, and 67 personnel from the Army have been identified to be sent for these jobs

Navy and Air Force personnel will also be invited to nominate candidates.

The Ministry said that retired armed forces members under 44 years will undergo training and examination by the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment.

What a mess. What do most military personals who cannot string a proper sentence in English know anything about Diplomatic Services? In fact most countries will just ignore these buffoons as ex-war criminals- no doubt. I am sure there will be hordes of Sri Lankans who will raise their voices against this observation BUT they do not know I am holding a mirror to what goes on in most foreign countries.

This offer is to the wide circle of retired lower level men and their family members. It may not happen but announced on the eve of the election to catch votes. Voters are much educated today and they know whom to vote

If the Ministry of Labour wants to provide foreign employment to members of war hero families, then there is no need to distribute jobs because there were and are no war heroes in Sri Lanka.

Looks like you have so much knowledge about war heroes and you must have spent a lot of time saving countless lives and with that remarkable Gallantry spending countless days years months of hardship . Just truly incredible words to remember the persons that tried their best in one of the biggest humanitarian operations in recent history. They are not just heroes but our nation’s guardian angels. Their families including the lives of enemies were sacrificed in the brutal wars. Every life lost is reminder that there is no heroes in war , real heroes are the families that lost everything . Both sides in equal heroism. We must never let the history repeat so let’s help every family that was effected.
