Grama Niladharis on three-day strike

Colombo, June 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Grama Niladhari Trade Union Alliance (GNTUA) has decided to engage with a stern trade union action while refraining from their duties for three days for delaying to provide solutions to their several demands.

The co-conveners of the alliance claimed that the government had made quick decisions to resolve the issues of administrative officers.

"Our alliance has been discussing these issues for years, but solutions to our problems are continuously delayed," they said.

As a result, the alliance has decided to refrain from work for three days starting yesterday (26). The alliance also decided not to work on weekends and special government holidays.

"If the government does not respond to our demands, the alliance will continue their strike at the district level," they said.
