Health measures implemented in Matara Prison as inmates hospitalized

Colombo, Dec 22 (Daily Mirror) -  In response to the hospitalization of eight inmates at the Matara Prison due to fever conditions, stringent measures have been introduced to curb the spread of the illness.

Following health guidelines, prison authorities have implemented restrictions on various activities within the facility.

In a directive from the Commissioner General of Prisons, new arrivals at the Matara Prison have been redirected to the Agunukolapalassa Prison. This decision aims to minimize the risk of further contagion and to safeguard the health of both inmates and staff.

To adhere to health recommendations, arrangements have been put in place to regulate and monitor visitor access as well.
