Health strike continues: Crucial meeting with Finance Minister scheduled

Colombo, Jan 16 (Daily Mirror) - Despite a discussion between the health trade unions and the Health Minister, the ongoing strike will continue until another crucial meeting with the Finance Minister.

Accordingly, the Health Trade Union Alliance has confirmed that the health strike will persist until a crucial meeting scheduled with the Finance Minister at 3.30 pm today.

The meeting aims to address the proposal submitted by the Alliance to the Ministry of Health.

In light of the ongoing strike, Sri Lanka Army personnel have been deployed to facilitate the healthcare services.

Sack the lot. Let them loose all entitlements. If they want to come back bring in only the best and they start as new employees at the bottom of the grade with more service history seniority. Good way to get rid of dead wood and trouble makers.

Another 1% increase of the VAT might help the government to raise funds and give the increase to the striking professionals. If another 1million citizens open tax files and start paying at least some amount of taxes, then too the government can give this requested increase. If the price per petrol litre in increased by Rs3 may be its adequate to give this increment. Now we want Politicians to work for a salary of Rs141,000, be honest, be committed to public service, while we (eg govt servants) start work at 9am and go home at 3.45pm. Don't want govt to print money etc.

In the drain water stuck for few days without a cover there is lot of mosquito more that the public Government take more action to reduce it . Please use all type tax money to development of the country

Privatize the health workers as done for sanitary workers. They can start from minor staffs. Excessive politically appointed minor staffs in any hospitals but only a handful working at any given time.
