Heat advisory raised to caution level in 14 districts, showers expected on Monday



The temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at some places in the North-Western, Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern Provinces and in the Mannar district on Sunday, the Department of Meteorology said. 

Issuing a heat advisory, the Department said the advisory was increased to ‘Caution level’ across 14 districts including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Mannar, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara. 

However, temporary relief from the dry spell is expected on Monday in certain areas, with showers or thundershowers expected in the Kalutara, Ratnapura, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts in the evening or night, the Department said. Mainly dry weather will prevail elsewhere in the island, they added.
