Colombo, September 3 (Daily Mirror) - Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, according to the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre.

According to the department, showers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in the  Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Further, fairly strong winds of about 40 - 50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces and in the Hambantota district, the department said.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
