Colombo, July 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has forecast heavy showers exceeding 75 mm in several regions over the coming days.
According to the latest forecast, showers or thundershowers are expected at various times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara.
In addition, the Uva Province and the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa may experience showers or thundershowers in the evening or night.
When considering the sea, the sea areas off the coasts extending from Kankesanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil are expected to be very rough at times as wind speeds in these areas can increase up to 50 kmph.
Furthermore, the sea areas off the coasts from Trincomalee to Kankesanthurai via Mullaitivu and from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle, may also experience increased wind speeds reaching up to 50 kmph.
Accordingly, naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
