(FPJ) - Sri Lanka and New Zealand were considered strong contenders to make it to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024, but their disappointing performances resulted in an early exit from the event.

Sri Lanka and New Zealand's respective campaigns came to an end as they have been officially knocked out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Among the top teams, Sri Lanka were officially first team to get knocked of the T20 World Cup 2024. Wanindu Hasaranga-led side lost two consecutive matches in Group D against South Africa and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka hoped to make a comeback in their match against Nepal, but rain played spoilsport in Florida, resulting in the match being abandoned without a toss.

Without a win in three matches, Sri Lanka had to rely on the outcome of the match between Bangladesh and Netherlands, However, their fate in the tournament was sealed after five overs of the second innings between Bangladesh and Netherlands. The progression of the second innings ensured that either of teams would have more points than Sri Lanka.

Talking about New Zealand, the Kiwis were already on the verge of the Elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024 after shocking defeats to Afghanistan and the co-hosts West Indies. Against Afghanistan, New Zealand's batting line-up was dismantled as they were bundled out for a mere 75 while chasing 160-run target.

After two matches, Kane Williamson-led Black Caps exit from the tournament was almost confirmed but they kept slimmer hopes for Super 8 qualification, given that Papua New Guinea defeated Afghanistan. However, the outcome of the match was gone other way and New Zealand had to end their campaign in the group stage itself. For the first time, New Zealand failed to qualify for the second round of the T20 World Cup.

Along with Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Namibia, Oman and Papua New Guinea too got knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024.

There will now be a lot of pep talk about SLs performance, lost opportunities etc. But one thing is certain we will have to pre-qualify again for the next WC. Same with the ODIs. The word 'underdogs' seem to be the only permanent qualification that SL has. Sorry guys, but facts are stubborn.

Sri Lanka has company among the knocked-out colleagues among losers. As a Team dominated International Cricket from 1996 to 2014, Sri Lankan Cricket-loving public must thank SLC Executives for putting SL among the distinguish losers such Namibia, Oman and Papua New Guinea.

First for SL cricket to lmprove we must get rid of currupt rulers who collaborate with these mega crooks at SLC and are robbing the funds ( cricket funds)that is coming to our country . On top of that this crook , given the sports portfolio is totally to blame for this state of affairs together with the SLC crooks and who is a stooge of India and ruined our Cricket by appointing 5 donkeys as selectors ( they may have cricket skills but lack intelligence ) icc is actually the BCCI. ICC tournaments are fixed in favour of India , Aussy

Any team, even India or Australia, will be on the back foot continuously trying to adjust to the pitches and environment if they given the run around for all their 4 matches. To be fair by the SL team, they were subjected to the maximum unsettlement. And then they faced the strongest team SA in the group first followed by Bangladesh. Once you get tripped over in the first 2 games, it's a hard graft and will only play catch up. These were the ground realities. Then of course you have bizarre tactics and impatience in building a score, questionable bowling tactics and in introduction of bowlers etc.

Cricket should be played in different pitches batters bowlers must be on top along fielding this days players are well trained given all nessorory training fitness getting them in shape to take the field most the trainers coaching staff are on top with all players prior any major events picking the best players for each game is a key factor depend on the pitch thats why India australia south Africa England do we'll batters give a good head start then bowlers do the attacking along cracking fielding.....and they don't give up Afghanistan usa west Indies Bangladesh have shown massive improvement
