President Maithripala Sirisena has told SLFP ministers who met him yesterday that he would introduce far reaching changes to the government following the LG polls results in the days to come.
“I take full responsibility for the SLFP’s electoral setback. The people of the country have voted for a change and I will respond positively to their message and introduce necessary changes accordingly as soon as possible,” President Sirisena has reportedly told the ministers. The worst case is ITAK losing lots of votes in North and East. Especially in East, para MR parties won in allot of places. Therefore, if Presidential election happens, then MR would simply win with those votes

MR lost the Tamil Muslim and Catholic votes. He will never get them back and will be assured of his 45 percent Sinhala Baudha votes.

Another promise you won’t deliver? What happened to the change you promised back in 2015?

People expected good governance, particularly action against corruption, present and past, not only politicians but also officials. Freedom of speech is there way more than expected. Transparency is lacking. Country needs strong leadership, take firm action within democratic framework and be harsh on law breakers.

If he (the President) takes full responsibility, he is fully accountable and he must suffer the consequences of his foolish and ill-timed actions - that is, political oblivion. He must gracefully retire from politics - his period as President serving as a blatant example of a loud-talking leader misled by popular accolades and falling from power due to a disastrous lack of foresight and intelligence.

Too little said too late Mr. President. You were warned of the enemy in your own house. How soon is your 'soon as possible going to be. You succumbed to the two timing Ranil to take action against your arch enemy, the Rajapakshas'. You have just 24 months to turn the tables but do it without the UNP..

Hopefully it's not too late for you, but many of us believe you stuffed up the whole apple cart by not taking action and covering up the so called corrupt. We have seen your past statements and acts by you, this was coming to you and there were enough warnings prior to the elections. Let us hope the vote was only for Mahinda but not for his goons. If that's the case then there is a chance for SLFP and UNP candidates in a general elections.

Your Excellency, You are still not late, I beg you, Please put all the thieves , murderers and the rapists from the past and present regimes behind bars for life, You can still implement the Yahapalanaya that you promised 3 years ago. If you get the money that has been looted from the past and present, that will be sufficient to run the country for few more years. include the top intellectuals from the private sector too to your advising committee. Make a difference, when you fulfill the needs of the people, you can make the people of this country to worship you.

First, you forgot that you are the main part of the team that promised good governance. Second, for the last two years, you did nothing to apprehend the culprits, who plundered our country. Now it is too late repair the damages already done. We, the patriotic Sri-Lankans, have become disgusted!

You can fool yourself all you want but this local election was more than about local bodies. On the stages were discussed the national issues, competent leadership etc. If it was a presidential election results would've been similar. People don't want sermons about no corruption good governance etc. These things may sound nice to ears but doesn't provide anyone with a future. People want work and someone to take responsibility for the issues not blame it on everybody except themselves.
