Colombo, December 3 (Daily Mirror) - Jaffna District independenet MP Ramanathan Archchuna said he was assaulted by SJB MP Sujith Sanjaya Perera when he visited the Opposition Leader's office.

The MP, while raising a point of order, said he visited the Opposition Leader's office to inquire into the time allocated for him for his Parliament speech.

"If such things happen inside Parliament premises, how can we move on the streets?' he questioned.

The presiding member requested the MP to lodge a complaint with the Speaker regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, SJB MP Nalin Bandara said MP Archchuna behaved in an indecent manner and uttered unparliamentary words before the Secretary of the Opposition Leaders' office.

"We have complained to the Speaker about this," he said.

MP Sujith Sanjaya Perera said he denies the allegations and it was MP Archchuna who had threatened him.

@ding dong - Come on, this has nothing to do with racism. Please don’t try to make it look so just like this egoistic MP is trying to do. If this MP has a bone to pick with the Opposition Leader, he can certainly do so without forcibly occupying a chair that has been traditionally allocated to the Opposition leader and being so disrespectful like an unruly schoolboy. Unparliamentary behavior within the Parliament should never be tolerated like in the past. That too has to change through right discipline!

why raise the chair problem through another SJB when Arjuna has tendered a public apology. Doesn't SJB has any other pressing problems. @ Nathan This bugger behaviour despicable from the start. Does he behave an educated person in parliament and other platforms. As a Jaffna Tamil , deeply ashamed of his behaviour. He does not know what to speak in a public platform and higher houses like parliament. Bad upbringing . One example : He said in a video clip , they used to drink beer with his brothers and his dad early days at home. This habit is very unusual in SriLanka particularly in Jaffna. This one example is adequate to calibrate his education!!!

No one has the licence to assault and bully members of parliament. There should be a full stop to this behaviour. I am surprised the composition of the members of parliament supporting this type of behaviour irrespective from what community they belong. Stringent action should be taken to eliminate this menace and if we are following the past POTTU behaviour these members should be expelled from Parliament. This same thing happened when the Pottu party was ruling this country the members created havoc and no entity came forward to check this and admonish these hooligans. We expect that the Speaker should intervene and redress this matter!!!!!!
