Immunoglobulin import case - Masterminds still at large: Unions

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) -  Referring to the import of substandard Immunoglobulin injections, the trade unions claimed that the CID has only caught the minnows but the sharks are still lurking.

Speaking to Daily Mirror, representatives of the health trade unions said although several individuals including the MSD director and a few others have been arrested, the real culprits are yet to be apprehended.

According to the unions, such a scandal is not possible sans the blessings of key individuals like the Minister, health secretary, and NMRA top officials.

As such, the unions insisted the CID to expedite the investigations resulting in the arrest of the real culprits of the case.

Speaking on the matter, President of the Government Medical Officers' Forum Dr. Rukshan Bellana said the investigations in relation to the incident raise serious concerns as the big fish are yet to be apprehended.

Meanwhile, President of the Sri Lanka Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists Ravi Kumudesh said that no clear stance has been articulated as yet with regard to the fate of the patients who have been inoculated with substandard Immunoglobulin injections.
