Imprisoned criminal smashes 23 CCTV cameras at Boossa Prison

Boossa (Daily Mirror) - An inmate of the Boossa High Security Prison destroyed 23 CCTV cameras installed in the prison.

The inmate, 32, is an underworld member.

The prison authorities have lodged a complaint with the Rathgama Police regarding the incident.

According to police, when the prisoner was taken out of the cell for some sunlight and ventilation, the inmate had climbed on the wall and destroyed the CCTV cameras installed inside and outside the cell where he is being held.

There are 13 cases pending before courts against the inmate related to drug trafficking and extortion.

What were the officers doing until he climbed the wall. This is gross negligence by the officers. If he is an underworld figure he is likely to have bank Accounts and money. whilst charging him in court criminally, recover the damage from him without making us to pay

Very rarely, some convicts are beyond correction or rehabilitation. At 32 if this man is awaiting prosecution for extortion and drug peddling its difficult to deduce he might opt to earn a living through honest effort and sweat. Still, 25 yrs in solitary confinement (no less!) with plenty of books to read, he just might be a changed man for the good at 57.
