Inclusion of fake Dr. title before Justice Minister’s name: CID to grill more parliamentary officials

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID ) will interrogate three more officials of the parliamentary staff over the inclusion of the 'Dr' title in front of the name of Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara.

These officials are attached to the Offices of the Leader of the House and the Chief Government Whip.

Besides, the CID interrogated Director of the Table Office Prasanna Kumarasinghe for two hours yesterday.

During the Election Campaign, many candidates of the NPP used to display their election posters with Dr. (PhD) titles. When these titles were displayed on the Parliamentary Website on 3rd December, Ministers and MPs happily accepted them and waited for more than 2 weeks. When Dr. Ashoka Ranwala had to resign because of PhD issue, some of the MPs got nervous and started complaining that employees of the Parliamentary Website had put the wrong qualifications (Dr.) in front of their names.

Why dont they question the minister, also check his social media profiles, party social media profiles, key government politicians profiles without harassing the government officers who did not do anything wrong.

Minister was slow to raise objection ton the fake Dr title. He wated until the Speakers issue surfaced. Than's no good and leaves a poor image for the Minister

This seems to be the American system of PREEMPTIVE measures to defend the minister who himself used the title of Doctor., with his deliberate knowledge, before facing consequences as of former Speaker but in this case, resulting in scapegoats, regrettably, being Parliamentary staff.
