Increasing demand for firecrackers during election time

Colombo, August 26 (Daily Mirror) - The All Ceylon Fireworks Manufacturers Association (ACFMA) today claimed that there is a higher demand for fireworks in view of the 2024 Presidential election.

Association chairman Dinesh Fernando told the Daily Mirror that the sale of fireworks has seen a considerable increase.

There is a higher demand for the production of large-scale fireworks (mal vedi) used for election rallies and events, he added.

The chairman claimed that the demand for fireworks may increase on days following the election.

The firecracker manufacturing companies have reportedly received their required raw materials at a lower cost and therefore, the firecracker manufacturing process is being carried out to fulfill the demand.
