IndiGo commences daily Chennai-Jaffna flights

Colombo, September 1 (Daily Mirror) - IndiGo, a key Indian airline, commenced their flight operations between Chennai and Jaffna from today, the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited said.

They said the inaugural flight from Chennai to Jaffna arrived today at 3.05 p.m with 52 passengers and departed with 75 passengers. The aircraft was welcomed with a celebratory water cannon salute upon arrival at the Jaffna International Airport (JIA) and the passengers were warmly welcomed with traditional dance performances and special gift packs sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Department of Industries, Northern Province.

IndiGo operates non-stop daily flights between Chennai and Jaffna and passengers can book tickets via their official website www.goIndiGo.in or through their mobile app.

Thank you INDIA.Thank you INDIGO. The runway will have to be extended to larger aircrafts to land. INDIGO please think of Thiruchinapalli - Jaffna- London - Jaffna - Thiruchinapalli flight. This will cater for international travels, tourism for Sri Lanka and Southern India.

Not sure I'm following your comment. However here are some economics 101 facts, 1. Typically each ticket gets sold will pay fees and tax that goes to the IRS and airport development 2. Ground logistics will open up more job opportunities for innocent Sri lankans in jaffna. 3. Improve the connectivity for jaffna, so people could connect via Chennai to any other destination. 4. This will bring more tourists to Jaffna and surrounding areas, also that will open up more job opportunities for more Sri lankans, also more tax revenue. 5.This could open up more avenues to further develop the airport with PPP (private publict partnership) 6. Lots of FDI rapidly moving out of the China to surrounding countries, And india is a beneficiary. If we can maintain closer ties with them, that'll open up more business opportunities for Sri Lankans.Let's celebrate these wins rather than being a clinic.You just got to open up our eyes if you'd like to have a better future for innocent people out there.

Everyone should understand and thinking that development should be based on statistic data of people needs not politically created data with influencing of discrimination. That's why huge investment was devastated in the past 15 years and less income was obtained from a few of them . Let's urge authorities to develop a international standard Airport with attracting infrastructure to the surrounding area to receiving more income to the Country in future.
