Colombo, August 12 (Daily Mirror) - The Indo-Lanka passenger ferry services are scheduled to begin operations on August 16 between Kankesanthurai in Sri Lanka and Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu, IndSri Ferry Service Pvt. Ltd. said.

The company's managing director, S. Niranjan Nandagopan, told the Daily Mirror that their passenger vessel, 'Sivagangai' is all set to resume ferry services between the countries.

The issuing of online tickets will begin at midnight (12) at Nagapattinam Port on August 13 (Tuesday).

Earlier, passenger ferry services were scheduled to begin operations on May 13 but were delayed due to the delay in delivery of the ferry and unavoidable compliance requirements.

Ohh.. please stop this nonsense. I booked twice in last year the service itself cancelled unanounced. Why not you consider the ferry services from Mannar to Thoothuki route as it opereated uninterrupted during the British time more than 100 years? Peers are intact, railway lines need few refurbishment and the jouney time is less than an hour.

Because they know how to do it. Sri Lanka and India is struggling to maintain one ferry service between both countries. Visit other countries and see how they can operate hundreds of ferries between their countries. We are struggling to run one ferry service and talking about being hub of Asia and super power of Asia.

Here we go again. Please don't run a service like this if you don't know how to do it. You guys can't even run 1 ferry service when other countries can run hundreds of ferries between their countries. Don't ever talk about being the super power of Asia.

To promote tourism and stimulate economic activities, the government should seriously consider the Indo-Sri Lanka ferry service project. If the ferry disembarks at KKS Port, the government should establish a duty-free zone with shopping complexes and eateries to attract and entertain Indian tourists. By creating a reciprocal arrangement, both nations can benefit from increased tourism and trade, transforming this project into a significant economic opportunity. However, as of now, it seems the project is progressing in only one direction, with no apparent response from the Sri Lankan government.
