Inmate dies from fever in Matara Prison
Matara, Dec 23 (Daily Mirror) - An inmate, receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Matara Hospital, died yesterday due to a fever contracted in Matara Prison.
The prison spokesperson said that the deceased had been imprisoned on 30.08.2023, over allegations of murder.
Following a surge in fever cases, multiple inmates from Matara Prison were admitted to Matara Hospital yesterday.
The spokesperson said that eight inmates are currently under medical care at the hospital.
