Promoted to the top tier of schools' rugby this season, D. S. Senanayake College inflicted a shock 29-20 defeat on Wesley College in their Under 19 Inter-Schools' Rugby League match played at the Royal Sports Complex. 

D. S. Senanayake held a 12-03 lead at half-time, running in two tries of which one was converted, while the Wesleyites managed just a single penalty. 

D. S. Senanayake extended their lead with another unconverted try early in the second half, before the Wesleyites crossed the line for the first time in the 43rd minute. 

Another converted try seven minutes later, further cut the D.S. Senanayake lead down to two points. 

Both teams traded penalties, before D. S. Senanayake scored a late converted try to seal the game, 29 points to 20.
