July witnesses highest monthly tourist arrivals so far this year

Sri Lanka recorded 143, 039 tourist arrivals for July, the highest monthly arrivals recorded so far this year, the data released by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority said.

For the first seven months of the year, Sri Lanka welcomed 767, 913 visitors, compared to 719, 978 recorded for the full year of 2022.

In July, India emerged as the top tourist traffic generator for Sri Lanka, accounting for 16 percent of the total arrivals.

According to latest figures Sri Lanka has lured 767,913 tourists so far this year in comparison neighbouring countries like India had recorded 3.13 million tourits by April this year. Maldives 900,000 by end of july Malaysia recorded 4.15 milliom tourists in the first quarter of 2023. The majority of tourists to Sri Lanka came from India followed by Russia and then Britain.
