COLOMBO (Daily Mirror)- Refuting allegations that permission had been granted to unload stocks of substandard fuel, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara today challenged Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa to file a lawsuit if substandard fuel had been distributed.
He told parliament that permission is not granted to unload any fuel stocks if they fail their quality tests carried out by the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL).
The Minister said permission to unload fuel stocks is granted only after quality tests conducted by the CPSTL at their laboratory and challenged the Opposition Leader to file a lawsuit if the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) or CPSTL had distributed any substandard fuel stocks.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said he made the statement to prevent the said stock from being distributed and that it was done for the benefit of the consumers.
Premadasa urged the Minister to table in Parliament all the test reports on fuel stocks so that the truth is revealed.
