Thalatha's resignation is a surprise. Her recent attitude was evident of trying to suport Ranil. Perhaps she didn't want to upset Sajith by openly supporting Ranil, instead she planned a move to first resign sothat she can avoid being expelled from the party like Harin n Manusha. Then she can be free to extend support for Ranil. This was expected when Prez Election was announced and she would get expecting a prominent position if Ranil elected President. The question arises as to how many positions Ranil can create.
