Yes. It is very unfair and frankly quite ridiculous that a Sri Lankan Minister or Politician of any rank should be compelled to resign over any kind of wrongdoing. This is completely alien to our 2500 year-old culture. KR should be re-instated immediately and be given a more important portfolio

What sad day ??? Maybe for beneficiaries like yourself, but, the country would once again be in celebration mode , when this scumbag would be taken away from "hospitals" and put behind bars and injected with all the fake medicines that he made money on.

Disgusting Behaviour Tuesday, 06 February 2024 03:12 PM
He should have been suspended from ministerial position six months ago when the issues in Health Ministry were highlighted. Instead the President tried to protect this criminal till the end. This is disgraceful behaviour by the Ranil .With this leadership come 3048 we will be in the same hole.

Consuming prison meal is no big deal Tuesday, 06 February 2024 04:31 PM
Keheliya has proved that he is a man with dignity and sensitive to public outrage. When the public demanded his resignation yesterday, he did not wait, but resigned today. We should applaud him. There was a news item that said Keheliya was allowed to get down his meals from his home. If somebody protest about this privilege, he will stop it and consume prison meals too.

As the Health Minister he had a choice as the drug shortage was not created by him and beyond his control . Either stick with the long drawn out government procurement procedures and let patients suffer or die due to the drug shortage or get the drugs to the hospitals ASAP. Purchase of quality drugs is the responsibilty of the purchasing officers and not the Minister.
