’’Ladiya’s’’ gang member fleeing country for Singapore brought back over murder
A member of notorious criminal Ladiya's gang in Athurugiriya, who had shot and killed a person in Thalangama and fled the country to Singapore, was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport after he was brought back to the country.
Police said the arrested person was one of the suspects who had arrived on a motorcycle to shoot at a man at Korambe in Talangama last week.
Based on information received that the suspect was fleeing from Sri Lanka to Singapore, police obtained a travel ban at the time the plane had departed. The suspect was turned back to Sri Lanka by the Singapore authorities when he landed in Singapore.
The 23-year-old suspect, a resident of Athurugiriya is to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court.
