Is this same samitha who is the ceo of a famous biscuit company. If so, it is a conflict of intrest issue and very poor appointment. AKD should be very careful in giving unnecessary power to Harini and double check before she makes any appointments as sometime back she was in hot seat for appointment of a very close lady friend as a secatery.

Many corporate top staff change jobs between companies and Samitha worked in a number and has wealth of experience. They found no conflict of interest when he moved from one to another. Similarly here. Are you worried he will buy biscuits only from Ceylon Biscuits?

Sathosa was the first supermarket in SL, and sold items at cheaper prices due to its not for profit nature.

A PhD (not essential but certainly a plus)and business experience should be ok. And if they appoint someone they know that is not unusual, it would align with their values

Before commenting better to know of Dr Samitha. He brings experience from previous roles at BAT-Ceylon Tobacco, Caltex Lubricants Sri Lanka, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd. and Singer Group of Companies Sri Lanka. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA)/CIM/Industrial Engineering/CMA/Psychology @ University of Lincoln. With a robust skill set that includes Strategic Partnerships, Executive Management, Television, Employee Engagement, HR Policies and more.
Can anyone suggest a better person?

Policy of Present government is not the profit but give people a quality and affordable prices for all goods but previous governments used Sathosa as cash cow for their cahoots who spent money for their election campaign, So we expecting newly appointed chairman along with the government would go back to importing essential goods only through Sathosa, but in corruption free environment

This the way to put full stop to infamous tax evasion like suger, garlic, coconut oil and many more corruptions occurred during past regimes,if it’s had done by Sathosa it’s not possible, but there we need honest administration to be succeeded

I see nothing wrong is exposing the new Chairman, if his past was not good. If he has a clean sheet nothing to worry. Conflict of interest is a legal issue. Can he hold two posts? Basically NPP was brought to power to prove their straightforwardness and no hidden agendas. Cleanup corruption and theft. And its good to make PM Harini aware of some points that she may have missed.
