One spill gate of the Laxapana reservoir had been open following the opening of two spill gates of the Canyon Reservoir, the Disaster Management Centre said.

The Centre has issued a warning to residents living downstream of Kelani River to be caution over rising water levels.

Sri Lanka is such a small country and in one half water flows to the sea unused, and another part doesn't have water to drink even. I think we need someone with a bit of common sense in the place where they do the planning and stuff.
