Wildlife conservators attempted to save a  leopard that had been trapped in the fork of a tree at Wanaraja estate in Hatton but to no avail.

The Leopard that was caught in a noose laid by poachers had broken the noose and climbed onto the tree only to be trapped in a fork. A team of wildlife conservators under the Veterinary Surgeon in Randenigala Veterinary Hospital Dr. Akalanka Pinidiya rushed to the scene and brought it down the tree after tranquilizing it to provide treatment.
Range Wildlife Conservator Prabhash Karunathilaka said despite their attempts to provide treatment and save its life had failed as it had died while under treatment.
