Katunayaka (August 15) Daily Mirror) - A new luxury 'Air Port Terminal Shuttle Service' was launched from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to the Colombo Fort Railway Station and the Multimodal Transport Centre (MMC) in Makumbura.

The new luxury bus service was launched by Transport and Highways Ministry Secretary Ranjith Rubasinghe at the BIA as a solution to one of the biggest issues in the history of Sri Lankan aviation.

Earlier, foreign tourists visiting Sri Lanka did not have the facilities of a transport service to travel in Sri Lanka. They had to travel with their luggage to the Avariwatta bus stand, which is about two kilometres away from the airport.

This new luxury bus service has been jointly organized by the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited, the Transport and Highways Ministry, and a private bus company.

These buses departing from the airport will reach their destination along the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway without stopping in between. A total of 10 luxury buses have been assigned, and a fee of Rs. 3,000 per passenger is also charged for a single journey.

The first bus of this new service departed this morning at 11.45 a.m. from the BIA arrivals terminal to the Makumbura MMC.
