MP allocations for General Elections announced



The Election Commission has announced the maximum number of Members of Parliament (MPs) to be elected from the 22 districts at the upcoming General Elections slated to be held on November 14. 

According to a statement issued by the Commission, the highest number of MPs, 19, will be elected from the Gampaha district, followed by other districts with varying numbers of MPs based on population and regional representations. 

The lowest number of MPs, four, will be elected from the Trincomalee district.

Furthermore, the Commission highlighted that the number of candidates to be included in a nomination paper must align with the district's allocated MP count.
