MP who smuggled gold leaves for Dubai

Puttalam District MP Ali Sabri Raheem who was fined for smuggling gold had left for Dubai on Thursday (25) night, informed sources said yesterday.  


The MP had left the country on a FlyDubai flight at around 8 pm, reportedly through the VIP lounge.   
The purpose of the visit was unknown at the moment the paper went to press. 

 
Last Tuesday (23) the MP who returned to Sri Lanka from abroad on a FlyDubai flight was detained by Customs officials at the VIP lounge of the BIA with 3.5 kilos of gold worth Rs. 70 million and 91 smartphones in his luggage.  
Later on the same day, the MP was released after being imposed a fine of Rs. 7.5 million and the items being confiscated.
