Beliatta, October 29 (Daily Mirror) - An ammunition magazine was found on an express train scheduled to leave from Beliatta to Kandy a short while ago, the Railways Department reported.

They said that the train departed from Maradana at 6:30 a.m. and arrived at Beliatta station at the end of its journey.

The same train was scheduled to depart for Kandy from Beliatta. During a routine inspection by railway officials, a black bag was found under a seat in one of the compartments. Inside the bag, they discovered a magazine and a box of ammunition.

The Beliatta Station Master was promptly notified, and an inspection was conducted. Sniffer dogs are currently being used to ensure the train’s safety.

As a result, the train’s scheduled departure from Beliatta to Kandy has been delayed.
