Mahinda Rajapaksa meets Xi Jinping

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Saturday on the sidelines of the 70th anniversary of Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

During their discussions, Xi and Rajapaksa discussed areas of mutual interest and the development projects going forward.

Rajapaksa in a statement on X said he was 'thrilled' to meet his old friend Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the anniversary celebrations and said together, countries should strive to build a peaceful and cooperative world.

Rajapaksa is in Beijing on a four day official visit on an invitation extended by Foreign Minister Wang Yi and during his stay he held discussions with leading Chinese officials.

China last week agreed on a debt restructuring agreement with Sri Lanka along with the Paris Club and India.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is who he is purely because of his true leadership, whether we like it or not. If his diplomacy were not right, the 30-year war couldn’t have ended. This man is a real hero.

Nothing unusual here.The mantra is to borrow from everybody and spend what you borrow on extravagant projects or waste it When you can't pay back what you have borrowed hand over the country's assets so you can borrow again.Leads to waves of inflation which benefit those who own assets(value goes up) and destroys those who don't, (the consumer) through the rise in the cost of living Therefore those who have assets support such policies, those who lend also like it they get the asset when there is default and whatever else they want from the borrower, the politicians like it because they get the money and the system goes on, handshakes everywhere .But don't blame the lender, the solution is to only borrow what you can pay back ,ask any housewife, economics 101
