Maithripala denies supporting any 2024 Presidential candidate

Colombo, August 16 (Daily Mirror) - Former President Maithripala Sirisena has announced that he will not back any candidate in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.

In a statement, Sirisena dismissed recent claims by the media and political figures from both the government and opposition, labeling them as false.

His statement comes in response to recent media reports suggesting that Sirisena had pledged support for Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa in the upcoming election.

Sirisena also addressed ongoing legal issues concerning the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), noting that the court has yet to issue a decision on the party’s leadership.
