Malinga appointed bowling coach of MI Cape Town franchise

Lasith Malinga has been appointed as the bowling coach of the MI Cape Town franchise in the SA20 League.

The MI Cape Town franchise have appointed former Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga as their bowling coach ahead of the second SA20 season.

Malinga will work with former South Africa spinner Robin Peterson, who was appointed as head coach of the franchise, replacing Simon Katich and Jacob Oram.

The franchise is owned by the Reliance Group, who also own the Mumbai Indians IPL franchise, for whom Malinga featured during his playing career.

MI Cape Town will hope the new coaching appointments will radically change their fortunes in the league, having finished last in the points table with three wins and seven defeats during the inaugural season of the SA20.
