Manhunt intensifies for ’Regal Sales’ owner involved in Rs. 45 million fraud

Colombo, Dec 28 (Daily Mirror) - The prime suspect, the owner of 'Regal Sales,' who rented an office within the BMICH, continues to evade arrest in connection to a financial fraud exceeding Rs. 45 million through a deceptive car dealership operation.

Police said the suspect and accomplices rented an office at BMICH in Colombo, advertising vehicles for sale in newspapers. Two buyers responded to the ad with the intention of purchasing a car and a jeep on December 20.

Upon reaching BMICH, the buyers were met by the office manager and organization head, who insisted on receiving payment before initiating necessary documentation for the vehicle sales. One buyer handed over Rs. 12.5 million, while the other provided Rs. 33 million.

Later, the owner who had taken the money went into a room inside the premises assuring the delivery of the vehicle keys and documents and had disappeared through the back door.

In response to the duped buyers' complaint, the police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of three key suspects—the manager, assistant manager, and cashier of the company.

A travel ban has been imposed on the primary suspect who remains at large, preventing him from leaving the country.

The Cinnamon Garden Police have released a photograph of the suspect, seeking public assistance in apprehending him. Individuals with information are urged to contact the Cinnamon Gardens Police OIC via 071 – 8591588.
