In compliance with the provisions of the Private Security Agencies Regularization Act No. 45 of 1998, the Ministry of Defence has initiated a comprehensive review and revision of the licensing conditions governing private security agencies currently registered under its purview.
Under these new regulations, all private security agencies that are presently registered with the Ministry of Defence are required to submit applications for license extensions covering the next 02 years.
These applications must be submitted at least three (03) months before the expiration of the existing license.
The Ministry said that operating without a valid license is considered a serious offense, and individuals or entities found in violation of this requirement may face legal consequences as stipulated in the Private Security Agencies Regulating Act No. 45 of 1998.
The Ministry of Defence encourages all private security agencies to promptly adhere to this licensing update to ensure their continued legal operation. Failure to comply with the new licensing conditions may result in the suspension or revocation of licenses, as well as potential legal action.
Further information and applications for extension of private security agency license and registration can be obtained from the Defence Ministry’s website www.defence.lk. (DSB)
