Colombo, August 20 (Daily Mirror) - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed a short while ago to develop infrastructure for the storage, regasification and supply of LNG for the Sobadhanavi Combined Cycle Power Plant at Kerawalapitiya, the Power and Energy Ministry said.

They said the MoU was signed between LTL Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. in Sri Lanka and Petronet LNG Ltd. in India under the patronage of Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara and the Deputy High Commissioner for India in Sri Lanka.

I heard recently AKD saying they will convert all the Diesel power stations to LNG. But see tomorrow JVP trade union will protest against this agreement.

Government has taken so long until Anura Kumara of NPP did mention that this will be a priority sector to reduce the energy cost. In any event, we think that NPP will review the details of this signed agreement when they come to power after Sept. 21.
