More than half a million people in the dark in 2023



COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) disconnected a total of 544,488 electricity connections during the first 10 months of 2023.

The details were announced in a report issued by the Power and Energy Ministry recently.

However, more than 8% of Sri Lankans were forced into darkness by the electricity tariff hikes.

Accordingly, 94,201 electricity connections were reported at the end of 2021, and 247,250 electricity connections were reported at the end of 2022.
