More than half a million people in the dark in 2023

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) disconnected a total of 544,488 electricity connections during the first 10 months of 2023.

The details were announced in a report issued by the Power and Energy Ministry recently.

However, more than 8% of Sri Lankans were forced into darkness by the electricity tariff hikes.

Accordingly, 94,201 electricity connections were reported at the end of 2021, and 247,250 electricity connections were reported at the end of 2022.

One law for the King's family and a different law for the poor. Brilliant! King's family owed over LKR 2Million and power was not disconnected but these poor people have been made to suffer by disconnecting their power. Nice way of treating the poor. Mr President please take not of this

In 2021 and 2022 new connections have been given but no such action in 2023. However over half a million users have got their connections terminated so far. The stupid ministry is totally dumb to understand the reasons. Based on these factors by 2048 there will very likely be a total black out in all homes. Keep on hiking rates every quarter Minister - you will get the result you expect.

in this world there is nothing called a free lunch, one must pay for the electricity that is consumed, we Lankans have gotten used to getting handouts since independence.
