NPP goes before Supreme Court demanding LG Poll

The National People's Power (NPP) today filed a Fundamental Rights petition in Supreme Court seeking an order directing the authorities to hold a free and fair Local Government Election.

The NPP Parliamentarian Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, former MP Sunil Hadunneththi and Dr. Nihal Jayasinghe filed this petition naming Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, Attorney General, Election Commission and several others as respondents. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Looks like the entire country is going to Courts seeking LG Elections. Even religious leaders including the Cardinal and the Mahanayakes of Malwatta and Asgiriya have written to the President on this. However, this one man is unmoved and stubborn.
