NPP has not filed any applications against Deshabandu - Upul Jayasuriya
Colombo, September 17 (Daily Mirror) - Past President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), Upul Jayasuriya PC, in a letter to President's Counsel Rienzie Arsekularatne, stated that neither the JVP nor the NPP has filed any applications opposing the appointment of IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon.
Jayasuriya alleged that Arsekularatne, in a letter dated September 15th and addressed to Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, has sought to arouse racial and religious disharmony.
He further stated that it was a futile attempt to distort the facts of a pending case and reiterated that it was a desperate, last-minute effort to garner votes for Arsekularatne's preferred candidate.
