NPP questions rationale behind Maindananda, Rohitha accompanying President
Former MP Nalinda Jayatissa questioned the rationale behind MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage visiting the United States, accompanying President Ranil Wickremesinghe on official duty.
"Mahindananda Aluthgamage was the one who said that he cannot sleep until Ranil is imprisoned for the Central Bank bond scam. Perhaps he was taken to the US because he was unable to sleep," Jayatissa said.
"Although the Opposition seems to be against the government, the real deal is now apparent. Not just Mahindananda, even Rohitha was in the US with Ranil, wearing a suit," Jayatissa said referring to MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena.
Jayatissa charged that these MPs state in public that they hold different views from the President, although they are now seen engaged in foreign tours with the President. He predicted that a number of opposition parties including the Sri Lanka Freedom Party of former President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa’s affiliates will soon join the President.
“It will only make things easier for us, as we will only side with the people,” he added.
