NPP refutes involvement in J’Pura University closure
September 14 (Daily Mirror) - The National People's Power (NPP) categorically denied media reports suggesting that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), a key ally of the NPP, is responsible for the alleged clash at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, which led to its closure.
Addressing the media, former NPP MP Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said, "Various parties are attempting to pass the blame onto the NPP, to which we have no connection."
He added, "This is a clear sign of how opposition camps are agitated by their imminent loss in the upcoming Presidential Election."

While students have the right to engage in politics and address issues that affect them, aligning with party politics or serving the interests of national political figures can distort the student political movement, dull its impact, and undermine its legitimacy.

Oh brother what ever you say we all know JVPs' behaviour, one half of our economy is in this state all due to them controlling the trade unions...trying to behave like saints won't work at all... people don't have other options that's why they are coming forward to vote or you'll guys, nevertheless remember people are watching you'll too...don't think Gota is only the guilty party.

Yes you are SPOT ON. Trade Union actions are one of the reasons for our downfall. They go to work EXPECTING BENEFITS but not for their contribution. That is the very reason prople want privatisation.

Cannot understand what baseless allegations being levelled here. Rulers are elected to govern and when they have miserably failed, why blame unions? Secondly, there are many party affiliated TU's, not only JVP, and they all have a role to play in society and economy. People's voting has nothing to do with this issue, so butt out and do not write absurdities please.

I know form personal experience the manner the university unions are dominated, utterly dominated by the JVP by bullying, ragging and beating up its political opponents. This time they got entangled with yet another violent mob and the news broke out into the media.

NPP / JVP also same though you are not unaware. AKD got many houses without working anywhere and got an MP's from Madiwela, while having a house in Kadawtha, too. A few days ago, Mount Lavainia courts issued an order to arrest Wasantha Samarasinha and Mahinda Jayasingha as they didn't appear in the courts over their action of swindling money. Lalkantah, too got a case against him after knocking down a person after driving, being drunk. Henchmen, involved in rape cases and many more. The lunacy at the helm of them.

It really doesn't matter what happened in the J`pura Uni but this open vulnerability of the old radically jealous and rebellious JVP of the past, who took peoples NIC cards away, forcibly closed hospitals and other essential entities from functioning back in the 1980`s will always be used again up to blow up the foundation of the newly Transformed NPP by the corrupt and decaying governance system in place now. Unfortunately for the NPP the old sewage like Lal Kantha, Handun, Tilvin ect can never be made to understand anything beyond `revolution` which is Marxism for them. This is exactly what the UNP Gas tank, SJB`s antique Telephone team and the utterly corrupted Phottuwa teams want!

Also wasn't Hadunnetti pictured leading the march to overrun parliament a couple of months ago'? Is thier conversion to embrace democracy an eye wash?. Having been involved in the JVP from his school days, Dissanayake joined the JVP in 1987, becoming active in student politics, engaged in full time political activities from 1987, with the onset of the 1987–1989 JVP insurrection.[ He entered the University of Peradeniya and left a few months later due to threats. He transferred to the University of Kelaniya a year later in 1992 and graduated in 1995. 1987 to 1995 for 9 academic years, like IUSF undergraduates spent for personal use, the Tax payers money.

The JVP is not a key ally of the NPP but the parent company of the conglomerate and the NPP is only its subsidiary on the political stage for the 2024 Presidential Electionon only to allay fear psychosis among the electorate and once in power the NPP will amalgamate with the JVP being the holding company and the people who voted for them would be the biggest losers.

The JVP stands for ultra-leftist ideas and policies and the voters are averse to vote for them and you would never have crossed the 3% vote base if contested as JVP under the Bell symbol and you formed the NPP to hoodwink the people without dissolving the JVP as such a move would prevent you capturing the Studensts Councils in the Universities and the public and private trade unions with ultra-leftist ideas and it has become imperative on you to defend them to sustain and nourish them and when it comes to a national election you are capitalist but ultimately it is the JVP which will call the shots.

Can anyone differentiate between JVP and NPP? Can anyone now appearing on stages of NPP deny that they are still active members of JVP? Every top one of JVP/NPP display the face of working poor people but everyone of them is a branded capitalist. Can they deny it? NPP is created to entice the educated and intellectuals while JVP is holding the reins of students and low income workers. They cater to satisfy different groups of society. But all benefits finally accrue to the same set of leaders.
