NPP’s national list includes candidate representing differently-abled community

Colombo, October 10 (Daily Mirror) - For the first time in Sri Lankan history, the National People's Power (NPP) has included a candidate representing the differently-abled community in its National List for the general election.

The NPP finalized the nominations for its National List yesterday, with the participation of NPP General Secretary Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe and JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva.

The National List features businessmen, lawyers, doctors, engineers, accountants, artists, and civil activists.

That unfortunately is not the purpose of the national list. It should be reserved for highly capable people, who do not want to spend time on election campaigns, yet who wish to lead politically driven administrative roles, and whose service is invaluable.

That's good to know that people with disabilities are becoming accepted rather than discarded by SL society. Hope he will have a good team to support him in accomplishing the job.
