Namal can easily win; he entered fray with 35% votes in hand: D.V. Chanaka



Colombo, August 30 (Daily Mirror)- SLPP Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa can easily become the President at the upcoming Presidential election as he began his campaign with a definite 35 percent votes of the people who stood with the 'Mahinda Chinthanaya' policy, State Minister D.V. Chanaka said today.

He told a news conference that no candidate will be able to secure more than 50 percent votes this time and said the candidate who secures 35 percent could win the Presidency.

"No one can secure more than 50 per cent this time. There were four political parties in the fray initially and it has now been reduced to three contenders. Namal Rajapaksa and two candidates are in the fray now. The three candidates will obtain 80 percent. The fourth candidate is also likely to get 15 percent and the other candidates will obtain 5 percent. So, the candidate who secures 35 percent could win this time. Namal Rajapaksa began the campaign with the votes of 35 percent of the people who stand with the 'Mahinda Chinthanaya' policy. He can obtain 4 to 5 lakhs more. The media reported that even Dullas Allahapperuma had said so. Namal can easily become the President," he said.
